 !MacPorts had a similar (same?) problem with zlib 1.2.4, and patched it;
 see https://trac.macports.org/ticket/24067

 They removed this patch with zlib 1.2.5, because this version of zlib
 fixed the problem, but clearly it didn't fix it for Tor.
