Comment(by arma):

 First, why are you using a bridge? If your bridge is down or flaky, you'll
 have problems bootstrapping.

 If that's not it, my guess is you're experiencing bug #3443. If so, you
 can resolve it with a fresh install (rather than overwriting your old
 install).
