 `feynman` from IRC is looking into this atm. He wrote
 http://sourceforge.net/projects/aeftimiamisc/files/hexchat/ in the past,
 which is a XMPP tunnel.

 Unfortunately, it seems that in its current form it's quite slow and
 unusable for web browsing. It also seems that some XMPP servers are
 throttling streams of messages of large size (4k byte chunks).

 More research is needed.
