Comment:

 bug_9268_final_stopgap_rebased in my public torbutton repo has a patch
 that a) allows the user  to override the decisions made by Torbutton's
 resizing logic via two preferences if that is necessary and b) takes the
 size of taskbars and the DPI value into account. Attached is an .xpi for
 testing. There are some corner-corner cases that remain, of course...
