My opinion is that it can go. I say opinion, because there are some times
when three columns make sense, but I don't think we need the left column.
If there is important material that will go into the left column that is
different from the middle column, I can see a point for it. But to me, the
blog posts are itself updates from Tor.
Even if we had unique content on the left, I think there is a good point
to be made about using the space more efficiently. Using just one column
on the right for both content can work, if we limit what we show (i.e.
last 3 tweets, upcoming 3 events, with a link to the twitter account/list
of all updates).
