I am sorry for the plan but assure that the motivation was genuine.
Assigned implicates "ah, cool, someone is working in it, I can do
something else" = no more attention, rotting here without resolution
possibly.
While new implicates "no on has taken it yet".

The question only pops up as portable software for Linux is quite uncommon
(compared to portable software for windows, i.e. portableapps.com).
