Comment:
Here's the current status of getting ooni-probe in Debian. The packaging
for ooni-probe itself is not done. I was hoping to be able to run some
unit tests first to verify that the depencies were correct before moving
forward.
Here is the status of what I have been able to determine as dependencies,
the expected versions and the status in Debian:
{{{
python-setuptools unspec. OK 0.6.14-4 in squeeze
python-geoip >=0.2.5 OK 1.2.4-2+b1 in squeezeÂ[1]
python-pyrex unspec. OK 0.9.8.5-2 in squeeze
tor >=0.2.2 OK 0.2.2.39-1 in squeeze
python-yaml >=3.10 OK 3.10-4 in wheezy
python-dnspython >=1.10.0 OK 1.10.0-1 in wheezy
python-ipaddr >=2.1.10 OK 2.1.10-1 in wheezy
python-openssl >=0.13 OK 0.13-2 in wheezy
python-docutils >=0.9.1 OK 0.10-1 in experimental
python-twisted >=12.2.0 OK 1.2.3.0-1 in experimental
python-txtorcon >=0.7 WAIT 0.7-1 in NEW queueÂ[2]
python-txsocksx >=0.2 WAIT done but not uploadedÂ[3]
python-transaction >=1.3.0 TODO 1.1.1-2 in sid
python-zope.component >=4.0.0 TODO 3.10.0-3 in sid
python-zope.event >=4.0.0 TODO 3.5.1-1 in sid
python-zope.interface >=4.0.1 TODO 3.6.1-3 in sid
python-scapy tip TODO 2.2.0-1 in sid
}}}
[1]ÂThis actually needs a small patch to add compatibility with C module
GeoIP on top of PyGeoIP. See #8507.

[3]Âtxsocksx is actually ready. One of its dependencies is python-parsley.
The packaging of the later, version 1.1~pre1-1 is also ready. I was
waiting to test both using ooni-probe before uploading them to Debian.
Having a package for ooni-probe should be fairly straightforward,
hopefully. It will be more complicated than a Python library, but so far I
don't see any pitfalls. I have not tested updating the current python-
scapy package to tip, though.
