We already have statistics on read/written bytes and opened streams by
''ports'', not by protocols. See page 6 of
https://metrics.torproject.org/papers/wecsr10.pdf. We don't have graphs
based on exit statistics on the metrics website though. Would that help?
Back when we designed exit statistics, we explicitly avoided looking at
specific protocols, because we didn't want to look into packets at all.
Ports are different, because Tor needs to know the port anyway to send
data to the right place. But protocol information requires us to look at
the first bytes of data packets, and we didn't want to do that. If this
reasoning is still valid, there's not much we can do to provide metrics of
protocol usage through Tor.
(Moving this to the Analysis component, because Metrics Website is just
about the website. What you describe requires research and analysis
before we can even think about presenting results on the metrics website.)
