Comment:

 We should fix if we can figure out how to diagnose it.  This could be a
 variant of #1125, which is rumored to be especially prevalent on Win64.  I
 don't think the warning bug about the state file is necessarily related,
 though it could be.   Does the warning about the state file occur right
 before every crash, or only sometimes?
