Comment:
With Matt we already have a plan to make a plugin framework for things
like this one.
Having Vidalia handle other process is kind of a hack to make the bundles
work. So the idea is to have plugins that do all this, and Vidalia can be
a Tor GUI and a plugin framework.
The plugins are going to be in a form of javascript (QtScript), so
basically they'll be a plain text file (or may be a zip with some
structure).
This way we can separate the hacks from Vidalia itself and its intented
porpouse, and just by modifying simple .js files, things like this can be
added.
The rough ideas are in here: http://paste.pocoo.org/show/290912/
I'm going to start implement it as soon as the control socket patch is
done. It's going to take a while, but at the end it's going to be far
better solution than everybody depending on/patching Vidalia.
