Runa said that an XMPP bot would likely use the protocol specified in
[http://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0096.html]. That spec mentions âin-band
bytestreamsâ, which would send the file over the IM protocol, so the
connection shouldn't be much easier to block than the IM connection
itself. (Assuming, of course, that users' XMPP clients don't try âSOCKS5
bytestreamsâ first, get blocked, and give up on the file transfer
entirely.)
But XMPP servers usually rate-limit client connections, so our bot could
get verrryyy ssslllooowww if people actually use it.
