 The attached patch replaces the call to getCharPref() by the (not really)
 more convoluted {{{getComplexValue(â,
 Components.interfaces.nsIPrefLocalizedString).data}}}. Looks like the
 later falls back nicely when the preference in not part of a stringbundle.
