Maybe it shouldn't bother me so much, but it's a bit inconvenient to have
this ticket wait for a pyptlib API change. I haven't tried the code yet
because it doesn't work with the pyptlib in Debian. Unless the new pyptlib
API is very close to being merged, is there a chance we could have the
client use the old API? For it to get testing, I think depending on an
unmerged API change is a real impediment.
