The calculation `4096 - strlen(http://255.255.255.255/tor/server/d/.z) ==
4058` may want to consider an IPv6 address, but doesn't make any
difference.

The changes you made look good. It's a little unsatisfying that there're
some leftover cases, but they don't look too bad.
