Maybe look at these for a start.  It's something that's on my TODO
list, but I wouldn't complain if someone else happens to do it before I
do, and it would help HS scalability considerably[0].

[0]: I do have a branch that makes circuit build crypto substantially
faster that I've been poking at so the situation will be better in
0.2.7.x, but it's not via threading...
