Hi everybody,
in case you are interested in knowing why Tor Hidden Services are so
slow, we have a 22-page report on this question available now:
http://freehaven.net/~karsten/hidserv/perfanalysis-2008-06-15.pdf
The abstract reads:
"This document describes a performance analysis of setting up and
accessing a Tor Hidden Service. The objective is to spot performance
bottlenecks in the hidden service protocol and suggest which parts
should be changed in order to improve the overall performance of Tor
Hidden Services."
This report is part of the NLnet Project: Speed Up Tor Hidden Services
(https://www.torproject.org/projects/hidserv)
As for the credits (if there are such for this report): Most of this was
written by Christian Wilms and me, I have provided at least two of the
bugs we could fix now :(, Steven J. Murdoch has compiled most of the
statistics, and Roger Dingledine has proposed a good share of the
suggested improvements.
Please let us know if you have any questions or comments.
Thanks!
