Few extra bits of info:

JanusVM + vmware-player (on linux) + kvpnc as the intended means of connecting to JanusVM.  What I cannot do is get kvpnc to connect to JanusVM (problems with the Janus certs and/or config - but NO explanations or howtos on setting up the whole thing anywhere!  

I don't know what interface produced by JanusVM is the gateway (tun0? vmnet1? vmnet8?).
