I think I once again have Ubuntu Unity to thank. All evidence suggests
that windows which try to open at 75% of screen size or over are
automatically maximized (it used to be 60%!), and since my computer
screen is quite small I assume this is what Tor Browser is trying to
do. Apparently you can alter this by changing some experimental
setting in the bowels of compiz, but really this is just another
incentive to start using some other desktop.
It strikes me that if the window size is really the only variable
piece of information that Tor Browser exposes to the internet at
large, it isn't a good idea to leave hapless Ubuntu users with small
computers to fend for themselves (i.e. learn how to install another
desktop environment). Until there's progress on #7255, do you think
there should be at least a verbal warning about this somewhere?
