Re: gEDA-user: My footprint generator

Hi Stuart and all,

My footprint generator is now online at http://www.gedasymbols.org/user/cory_cross/

It's commented halfway decently (enough that a regular Python user would get how to use it) and I included two sample template files in the tools/ directory. I also included the output footprints in footprints/ (though I haven't linked them yet). There's the aforementioned EVA series electrolytic capacitors and now surface-mount DIP packages (called SMDIP?.fp where ? is # of pins) which I use for surface-mount DIP versions of optocouplers.

So, when people use footprints with .fp in the name you actually use footprint=SMDIP4.fp ? Kinda ugly, but I guess it's better than no extension at all.

Enjoy,
Cory Cross

ps Good job on getting gEDA mentioned in that IEEE magazine a few months back!

I think the best way for you to distribute your footprint generator is
to get an account on www.gedasymbols.org and then put it up there.
