 This was first analyzed on Kubuntu by SwissTorExit, so not an OS X 10.6
 exclusive problem.

 It only happens when --enable-bufferevents is used during configure.
 Testing it in a private network doesn't reveal any problems (probably
 because AssumeReachable is set on both authorities and relays).

 When trying to get a relay (with assumereachable set) into the public
 network, the authorities fail their side of the reachability test though,
 so the node never makes it.
