Re: [tor-talk] Tor Browser and my location

I played with it a tad and see that (https://www.google.com/?noj=0&gws_rd=ssl&ncr) does work although at the bottom right of the page it gives the option to use https://www.google.de instead. Minor annoyance. IF it eventually works like Firefox it should be nice! I'm just an end user and not a programmer/tech. Still wondering the advantage of Tor over Firefox. Also wondering what if someone never installed Firefox before. Will Tor still work or function?

You'll want that to be https://www.google.com/ncr?noj=0&gws_rd=ssl (note
the lack of trailing slash)

But, it looks like it strips the query string when it redirects you to
google.com though, so it may not be possible to keep the noj & gws_ssl.

I tried to append (https://www.google.com/ncr/?noj=0&gws_rd=ssl) and I
get the 404 error code is all.

Google will redirect you to a region specific version of Google based on
geo-location of your source IP. This the the IP of the Tor exit node
you're
using, which is why it differs to your location.

If you set your homepage to https://www.google.com/ncr (append the query
string you want to use if desired) you should stay on the .com domain

I do like Tor Browser, but I'd like to know why the Tor Browser places me
(according to Google) everywhere except where I am actually located? I am
in central Arizona, but every time I open Tor Browser my start page (
https://www.google.com/?noj=0&gws_rd=ssl) changes to various other
countries, ie: sometimes Italy, Netherlands, Germany, etc. but never
USA! I
would like to see Tor Browser open and load my home page(s) as I prefer
all
the time!
