I'm always an advocate of the right tool for the right
job, so what about a Java GUI.  I think Java would run
on all the same systems that Python would, and you
could use Jython to include your python app right into
it.  If I were doing a project like this I would
definately use Java to make a GUI for constructing the
presentation, write out the resulting multimedia
presentation parameters in XML, and have pygame script
those parameters into a presentation.  Just my
thoughts on the situation.
