No, there's no direct way.  (There's nothing like using an & to
pass-by-reference like in C++ or anything like that.)  Don't take this
the wrong way, but if you're thinking about it as a problem "to work
around", you're probably thinking about it the wrong way :-)

Why don't you post the code and what you want it to do, and I'm sure
someone will have a Pythonic solution for you.
