Re: [school-discuss] Connected Educators Month

This is wonderful, Zor.  Do you mind if I forward it to some parental support gifted groups?  I know they'll be very eager to use it and test its effectiveness!

Joel,

I just want to mention the educational Web site I am developing to significantly modify studying mathematics in high school.

The Web site is UNIZOR.COM.

For students it offers a challenging environment oriented to solving problems and proving theorems. This type of math I consider significantly more important than learning formulas and memorizing properties of math object, which in real life of 99% of the people are never used anyway.

For parents UNIZOR.COM offers a full control over the learning process via enrolling their children into different courses and checking the results of exams.

Finally, for teachers it presents an opportunity to individually approach each student's learning process, reducing the time needed for general explanation and spending more time addressing only issues that cause problems. This facilitates the idea of "flipped classroom".

UNIZOR.COM is free, has no advertising and I have no financial benefits from people using it. I consider creation of this site to be my citizen's responsibility and hope it will contribute to rebirth of real education we ought to provide for young students, so our country once again can be the source of innovation, creativity and progress for an entire world.

TechinEDU will be playing a big part in helping to support the US Department of
Education's Connected Educators Month long celebration. This year, the
celebration will take place in October and planning has begun now. As
the founder of TechinEDU I have volunteered to be part of the planning
committee but am also looking for members to step up and offer some
great content to share with other educators as we attempt to make
TechinEDU the home for everything EdTech.

Do you have great content to share? Do you want to lead up something
offered through TechinEDU? Have a product you would like to showcase or
offer free for the month? Any and all ideas that would help educators
become more connected online are welcome. contact me if you have
something you would like to do or if you would be interested in helping
facilitate activities on this site for the month. Start planning now. A
formal promotional packet will be out soon.
