Re: [school-discuss] Open Source CD distribution

Regarding choices of distros, I would recommend Debian-based distros like Ubuntu as the package system, Synaptic,  provides access to an enormous amount of applications.  If users find that software installed by default is insufficient, they can readily find and install software that will meet their needs.  The Synaptic Package Manager makes package installation and removal quick and easy.

Also it could be a spin off project, a 'conference advocate kit'  Where groups that would like to promote FLOSS in education could have a pre-packaged option that they could order up (scenario, they request 400 booklets, 200 cds, stickers, etc that they could hand out to folks they have the chance to chat with.
