Hi Tony, Virgina et. all,

The term "social software" is a buzzword used when making references
to the group of online tools that are are primary relying on social
behavior of groups. When talking about social  software people mainly
use it when they mean:

* weblog tools
* wiki tools
* social bookmarking tools
* social network services
* picture sharing services

Furthermore I would include under trhe "social software" category the
following:

* Computer supported collaborative working tools
* Computer supported collaborative learning tools
* Discussion and chat tools
* Knowledge building tools

From the Virgina's list I would include under the category of
"social software" only the following + the following (1) software
package and (2) online services (and the list is no mean complete):
