(Personally not too familiar with DOS, other than using Telix and QBASIC :) )

This is what I always enjoyed about the Macintosh, when compared to
Windows or Linux.  Of course, the idea of shared libraries (.so, .DLL)
can make things simpler (esp. for developers), but from the end-user
standpoint, can seem just confusing.
