Text is definitely the easiest to work with. I expect that most of the
document could be created using text. However, I anticipate that we
will need some way for the participants to communicate math expressions
-
that was the only reason I suggested latex/latex2html for the working
drafts.

I know that Docbook can render math expressions, but I haven't had
time to learn how to do it yet. Hopefully, by the time most of the
content is created, I would be able to do that markup for you so
you could just focus on the format.

Now here is an optional idea (besides latex) for the working drafts.
Xiao has put forums and message boards capable of rendering math
expressions (and chemical expressions) in the lastest versions of
WIMS. If we use a WIMS forum for the working drafts, that might
give all the math people an opportunity to experiment with the
capabilities of WIMS and also give Xiao some useful feedback
on how the features work and what else people might want.

Sometime in the past Roger wondered whether or not SEUL should
install a WIMS server, and for this project I think it would be
very useful. I can try to host a forum at Cochise called "SEUL Math
Teacher Guide" for the working drafts until SEUL can get one up
and running (or in case it isn't possible to host a WIMS server at
SEUL.) Our server is not a big server, but I think it would
handle a reasonable amount of traffic.

I could take all the ideas from the message board and continue
to build the document in text form unitl it is ready to go to
Bill. It's just an idea, what do you think?
