[seul-sci] ANNOUNCE: PenguMetrics spectroscopy software launched

Hello,

I would like to announce the PenguMetrics Project, a collection of tools
to operate UV/VIS/NIR spectrometers on Linux systems. If you are
interested in

- on line measurement for chemical industrie or physical technology
- small optical spectrometers
- spectrometer and/or measurement card kernel module development
- SANE backend development
- conceptional work and ideas

this is the right time for you to join the mailing list of the
project. There is no "ready to run" release yet, but you can checkout the
first code from CVS or suggest related projects for our website.

Planned features:

- highly modular concept: scale your spectrometer
system down to "just the right" components (important
for On-Line measurement on embedded systems)

- Frontend/Backend/Driver structure makes use of
established standards (SANE for spectrometer access)

- Open data formats (JCAMP-DX, netCDF)

- Laboratory frontend with scripting extention (PerlDL)

- Make use of all nice Linux fetures (Networking,
  Database, remote operation, ...)

If you are interested the team will be pleased to see you on one of our
mailing lists. You can find more information on the project homepage on

Bye,
Robert

PS: I will be out of office during the Braunschweig Linux-Days from today
till sunday. Please expect my reaction to your emails or subscription
    requests afterwards.
