National development and Media activities of late
Hi All,
Sorry to have not informed all re the publicity CBV has been generating down in
Melbourne the past few weeks. It all just happened way too quick. :(
Some of the media has been shown in other states and has generated some
enquiries around applications, volunteering and donations.
On the subject of applications; if members in other branches receive phone
calls, emails or other from people wanting a computer the best strategy to take
is to ask them to send a business sized stamped self addressed envelope to CBV
at 92 Rosslyn Street, West Melbourne, 3003 and we will send out information
sheets, application forms and a cover letter explaining the situation in other
states; that is - you guys are not open for service just yet! CBV will accept
applications on behalf of other states and will forward them to you when you are
operational.
With respect to volunteers for other states, I will compile a list of those
people registering an interest in volunteering in other states and send this to
the respective co-ordinators to follow up. Thus far we have had a number of
enquiries from qld, sa and nsw.
There have been a number of calls from people wanting to donate equipment in
Sydney, yet CBV is fully aware that CBNSW cant cope with too much more equipment
without a space to work from or to store goods in. Is this still the case guys?
Where possible I am asking Sydney donators if they can hold their gear for a bit
until things are sorted out a little better. What is the story NSW, how are
things at the moment? Have there been any developments with Inner City Waste
Management?
On the question of national development, CB is still orchestrating this and it
is taking a little longer then we expected. Currently the CBV committee is
working on a first draft of our revised constitution that hopes to reflect a
national organisation, once the first revision is ready we will email a copy to
all state co-ordinators for distribution and discussion amongst state members
and volunteers. Expect this at the end of June. :)
Our national registration will happen at the end of July, once the revised
constitution has been accepted and passed. Sorry that all this is taking so long
to come about.
For those folk that would like to do something sooner the only option is for you
to become full paid up members of CBV. In this way you are protected by our
public liability and volunteer insurance covers.
If anyone has any questions or comments to make please send them to this list
and not to me, I\'d rather have this discussed openly.
Cheers,
Kylie
