Assistance with Research for Computerbank
Hi all,
CBV (and hopefully other CB\'s) will start to forward generic research questions
on behalf of users / recips to our mailing lists (this one and the cbtechnical
list).
The idea behind this is to increase the sharing of tasks that dont actually
require physical presence to complete. That is you really dont have to be
anywhere to do this research stuff!
In order to avoid many people doing the research (and duplicating effort) we
will need to work out a system for doing this. The best way I can see is for
individuals to put their hands (or emails up) up to say \"this one is for me\" or
\"hmmm, yeah I know a bit about this - I\'ll take it on\". If it is something that
can be discussed on the list - then an open discussion could be started.
Thoughts please?
So lets give this whole research idea a go then;
1. First question for all is about CDROM books. Computerbank has recently been
asked (twice) about CD ROM books / info disks and whether or not they will be
able to be read on our systems where there has been a cdrom installed or
provided.
Does anyone know what kind of file formats these come in? Has anyone had
experience with this kind of thing?
2. More specifically, one person was asking whether or not the Australian
Building Practices code (apparently available on cd) and other related materials
could be read on the systems that we are distributing.
Does anyone want to take this up? What other things would it be good to know
about this research?
There is no deadline for this question but an answer (or thoughts) within a week
would be good. :)
Cheers,
