Looks like you changed a bit more than was necessary. I'll give a
few points why I think the previous state was better. (btw the
new depot is not one of the reasons although it does have a part in
one of them.)

The map became much harder. I won't say impossible only
for the fact that you can take the enemy headquarters with
a bit of luck. I don't see any other way to win, though.

Player one doesn't have much of a choice what to do because you
took away the hovercraft. He needs to send a small force east
to the depot, and he can optionally take the new depot (I'd say
it doesn't really make a difference whether he does, though).
There's no way he can get to the factory any more. And this is
also the one reason I don't like the new depot too much: it
pretty much blocks the option of going north. He will
eventually get the eastern depot, if he takes the new one he'll
quickly lose it again, and after that it's all going down the
drain. That the artillery is pretty much useless while falling
back only makes it worse.
The only chance is to sneak some infantry up the eastern bridge
and take the headquarters.

All in all, I'd say the balance in the initial release was a
lot better. In passing, I'd also like to mention that the map
name is not quite right, IMO, assuming that you meant the
river. Something like Deep Gorge would be more appropriate
although I'm a friend of making up 'real' names, e.g. The
Omyar Gorge or so.

Whatever, don't let this discourage you.
