Initial Comment:
gEDA/gschem version 1.6.0.20091004 on MacOS 10.4

If a symbol instance has no slot= attribute attached, eS (Edit->Slot) will apparently change the slot, but this will not be preserved in the saved file. I believe eS should attach a slot= attribute if there is none attached.
