It also fails on my OS X system using stock MacPorts. Even though the
bug is marked as invalid (and may well be, as far as the API use is
concerned), it's worth noting the failure will likely hit anyone who
wants to run gaf on a Mac (at least under MacPorts). Is there anything I
can do to dig further on this one to see if we can find a workaround?

Bug description:
  When launching gschem on a Mac OS X system I get an abort trap from
  GTK recent file manager.

  Here is the error output

  Gtk:ERROR:gtkrecentmanager.c:1942:get_icon_fallback: assertion failed: (retval != NULL)
  Abort trap

  It seems that there is no function to provide a default icon for the
  manger.
