gEDA-user: What is a good name for a free/open source EDA group on USENET?

Hi,
/If/ you were to exchange experience on free and open source EDA tools
on USENET, what name for such a group would you find appealing? Users
of a major commercial tool happen to exchange experience in
comp.cad.cadence.

I think comp.cad.geda may be a bit too specific as there are xcircuit,
magic, layout, qucs, kicad etc. out there. Maybe comp.cad.opensource
is a compromise? What then about all the mechanical cad programs?

What is the purpose of this mail, you may ask? In order to get a well
qualified placement of a USENET group, in this case in the comp.cad.
hierarchy, it is nescessary to write a charter for the group and then
defend its needs. Finally a email ballot is run to determine if the
group will come into existence.

I do not want to suggest to take the gEDA and PCB talk away from this
list. My hope is to have a place independent of any vendor,
distribution, ISP, whatever where users and providers of tools can
post open source cad related questions and comments.

The idea is something like a one-stop-shop for people who have a
particular need but no clue what kind of open source tool that would
fit their need.

Why not use sci.electronics.cad? This is all about free and open
source eda tools. That group is filled with talk about commercial
tools that have little interest for the free and open source EDA
community.

Why not comp.lsi.cad? LSI stands for "large scale integration" which
is not nescessarily the goal of a free or open source tool.

Maybe there is a strong opinion _against_ a USENET group.
