   I did that and got this:

   I then went through and commented out all the lines until it started
   working. Turns out
   you can either remove all the code that sets up the menus or take this
   line:
   ; finally set the keymap point to the newly created datastructure
   (define current-keymap global-keymap)
   and CHANGE global-keymap to any other unused string. Reruning that
   code doesn't work
