Re: gEDA-user: How to layout footprints overhanging edge of board?

I just meant to use the board edge as a zero point ... meaning if you have
a PCB-mount switch, one that will always and only be mounted on the edge
of a PCB, you can draw it without the stuff overhanging the board outline
but with a reference line (on silk layer) that you can position right on
the board edge/outline. You make the measurements beforehand when you
make the footprint and it almost guarantees your part ends up where it
needs to ... say a switch whose faceplate overhangs the board edge by
.025".

Then it _really_ doesn't matter if you overlap the edge with "silk".

"board outline" site:http://geda.seul.org/wiki/

The wiki shows how you can make your outline by opening your *.pcb file
with a text editor (like gedit or emacs) ... which is a quick way to get
accurate results if you're comfortable working that way.
