If no one beats me to it, I'll code up a similar patch for the GTK HID
next week. I've wanted this feature for a while now, but not got round
to doing anything about it.
(I need to do some work on the zoom / pan functions for the GTK HID
anyway, as part of my refactoring coordinate trasforms prior to landing
the PCB+GL branch).
