I did not know about the footprint - collection from John...until now ;-)
But yes, it was the restriction about the "grid" to change the with of 
the lines, which will become pads.
From the tools I know there is mostly a selection: "place object to x 
y" - for complete objects, or also for parts (corners) of areas, lines...
This possiblity I missed in PCB - but if there is a workaround, it is 
also OK.
Mainly I have to check-up this first, before I begin to create a 
layout...and then get know that there are problems.

So I'll take the hints now and "play" the next days - I don't want to be 
a newcomer for too long time ;-)
