A GUI is not just the look but also the feel, Especially the feel is that much different between many systems that there is no usable least common denominator. The result are applications, that look like Windows on Win-Boxes, look like MacOS on Macintoshes and look like Gtk on X11-Systems, but they often do not feel like they look.
