You probably want to start using the CVS source. There was a bad bug on
searching silkscreen bounding-boxes in the latest snapshot release, but it's
fixed in CVS. Also I'd like to point out that there is no need to select
anything before moving it, unless you want to move a group of objects.
Simply click-drag to move something.
As for forcing selection of a particular thing, pcb selects from smallest to
largest and from top to bottom. The easiest thing to do to avoid grabbing
other objects is to turn off their visibility. Alternatively you can zoom in
closer and grab it by some point that is far away from the other, smaller
object.
