BTW what are the layer groups for?

When I started designing Ronja TX PCB, I got the idea to use
separate layer for component ground and component signal. I tried to use
it but component signal didn't cut a trough in component ground so it
got shorted and a nonsense resulted.

So I designed it the stupid way again - put everything into component
layer. I don't see a point in the layers - does anyone?
