Pins?  Or vias?  Or pins in the element, used as vias?

Hmmm.... if the pins have the same name/number as the pads, the
netlister should connect them, and then the autorouter should be able
to connect them all for you.

In theory, no.  In practice, yes... if you don't use gsch2pcb.  When
you manually load an element from a file (via the library), it really
loads whatever it finds.  That can include traces, pre-placed.
However, you have to adjust the footprint's name, value, and
description to match what gsch2pcb expects so gsch2pcb won't delete it
later.  There's also the problem of getting the layer stacks to line
up between the two.

Not that this is either documented or intended, of course.
