gEDA-user: [SOT] suggestion for a SMT switch
All,
I'm using geda (hence the S.lightly in SOT :-) ) to build a small, ~ 1
inch by 1 inch board. It has a PIC10F202 on it and a small vibrating
motor. I need to turn the motor on and off with the pic. The board is
powered by a 3V coin cell.
Since the motor typically draws 100mA, and the pic can only source/sink
20mA, I need a switch. I've looked at transistors, MOSFETs, and now CMOS.
The NXP 74CBTLV1G125 [1] looks like what I need. The package fits my
size requirements (SOT23-ish), and everything I can figure out in the
datasheet [2] looks good.
Two things concern me. I'm new to circuit/board design and I'm probably
missing something obvious. Is there a different part I should look at
before I commit to this one? It would be nice to find a cheaper
alternative that is just as good, or close.
Second, the pic has weak pull-up resistors on two of its outputs (GP0
and GP1), so I don't need an external pull-up on the OE pin of
74CBTLV1G125. Do I need a large resistor between the pic output pin and
the OE input pin of the 74CBTLV1G125?
It's not a problem if I do, I'm just trying to reduce component count
wherever possible. I've been unable to find any reference circuits or
application notes for this chip... :-(
tia,
Jason.
