I'm really happy to see Dan improving doc/ build scripts.
AFAICT, it is the least perfect part of PCB build system.
actually, that is why I'm used to build from GIT
without documentation (and I have reasons to think
I'm not only person who usually builds PCB from GIT this way).

So far (after commit 8dbe3eb93d3281d4f0e496f68d4ba7f20e78b43b
on Wed Jun 3 22:11:28 2009 -0400),
at my FC4 configured with --enable-maintainer-mode

Without documentation, it builds perfectly there, even
in undocumented VPATH mode.

May be too old makeinfo (4.8)?

Thanks,
