	50?  Gosh.  That's quite a few packages.   

	I am internally torn between moving forward and using the new
packages/features (gtk+, freetype, glib, etc...) and trying to support
non-Linux legacy platforms.  

	Random aside, people who think this problem is unique to the
free software/ Linux/Unix world (that is, software with many many many
many dependancies), it is not.	MS apps have a _TON_ of dependancies;
I see this everytime I debug a windows app.  It is just that nobody cares,
since end users rarely try to use software that is distributed in source
form on MS platforms.  

	Building software of any complexity is non-trivial.
