gEDA-user: what is the use of the .PLOT instrustion?

I'm a newbie.
there are some batch ouput statement like .PRINT, .PLOT, but what's the use of them?

When I used them in a .cir file and ran in ngspice, I still need my self-input plot interactive command plot/print to show the graph, so how to use .PRINT, .PLOT?

another question, is the ngspice program including the functions of ngnutmet? if so, why ther are sepearted in two?
