gEDA-user: maximum track width

pcb non-feature.
Maximum track width seems to be 250 mil. If I explicitly set the line 
width in the route style dialog to 1000, it is automatically reset to 250 
mil. Is there a reason for this limit? 

Suggestion: 
Issue a warning if tracks get larger than 250 mil, but allow to override.
