Yeah, I'm well aware of the limitations of GUI apps -- but I also know
of the drawbacks of CLI apps, one of the biggest is that for each
application, I have to get familiar with the commands, and their options
and arguments in order to use it effectively. This is a bit of a waste
of time for something I only need occasionally. 

I use simulation almost exclusively for a quick check of my calculations
before I start building stuff.
If precision and predictions about real-world behaviour are required, I
usually don't bother with computers and the likes; I get hands-on with
the soldering iron, measuring equipment, pencil and paper, and the
trusty old pocket calculator.

But thanks for the reply anyway -- I'm sure to check out Al Davis'
method, perhaps it's not that much of a pain after all.
