And for logging and fullness, I just spotted the following appearing
in /var/log/Xorg.0.log when the program dies:
[ 22155.171] (EE) intel(0): [DRI2] DRI2SwapBuffers: drawable has no back or front?
Should give a decent hint as to what error paths to check.
